Jobeee Employability Test (JET)

Have you ever wondered why employers always have their own selection process where they conduct their own assessments and interviews to select a candidate? Why employers just do not depend or believe in your academic scores?

This needs to be deeply understood. Your academics are intended to make you knowledgeable and they are highly subjective. It does not give a correct picture of your general intelligence in performing high skill tasks in a timed environment. The academics do not tell how good you are when it comes to application of knowledge in real time scenarios.

More over there is no consistency in how the universities grade or score their students. When so many scales of measurement are applied, it is going to be a tough task to differentiate good from bad and better from best. In one state getting 70% in academics is considered a tough task for brightest of the students, while in some states people easily score over 90% but do not have their basics right.

This explains why companies prefer to conduct their own assessments and further selection process. The assessments are scientifically designed and gives a good insight into how candidates measure up in a given situation. Since this is the same test given to all the people it is easier for companies to see performers and non-performers easily. It is always impossible to select the best possible person but most certainly, this would help companies to pick the best from the available set of talent pool.

Employers do understand that talent is scattered through different colleges but they do not have enough resources or time to reach every college and give opportunity to those talented individuals. They end up picking only few top colleges and try and recruit the talent within that pool.

This is where Jobeee Employability Test (JET) comes into picture in a big way. Chances are very high that employers would use JET score as one of the screening criteria, since it is available, to avoid wasting time testing candidates who they feel are never going to make it to further process. Employers now can choose to filter candidates by their JET score, which represents your performance among your peers irrespective of which college or where you studied.

JET is a proctored screening test that is highly reliable and it gives a accurate picture of how to compare with others who have given similar test.

As a student, you stand to benefit by getting highlighted no matter which college you are studying. It becomes irrelevant. For the first time, companies have a way to sort and screen the candidates on a scientifically designed and implemented JET score rather than depending on your selecting by college or region or academics. We do not say that this would be used as a final selection criteria but it might definitely be used during the initial screening process.

Employers would want to apply a stringent screening criteria to weed out candidates that they think would not fit into their selection criteria. For example, they might want to say that you should have consistently scored more than 70% throughout your academics before even considering your candidature or conducting preliminary assessments.

Employers spend lot of money and time in assessing skills of candidates and it is one of the major cost component in campus recruitments. Employers spend anywhere between 200 to Rs. 400 on each of the assessment that you take. Now you understand why they go and test very few candidates and that too from tier 1 colleges where they hope to find good candidates in order to minimize the expenses on assessing the candidates.

You are spending lot of money to colleges to get educated and pre-equipped with knowledge and skills that employers look. You might have put in excellent efforts in academics and one of the best candidates for them to consider and recruit. Unfortunately, your academic scores do not automatically make you visible to the employers or stand out highlighted to be considered.

JET is a free assessment test conducted by Jobeee to enable visibility of remote talent that is available in colleges that are not often visited by employer and this is administered in your college. As a student you are free to attempt it or not attempt it. The chances are that if a company choose to use JET as a additional filter in preliminary selection you might be left out of the process.

Imagine if you were a company and there is choice to choose between pre-assessed candidate and candidates who are not assessed. What would you choose?

We advise candidates to use this opportunity and be serious with their assessment as this very well could make you eligible for applying for more jobs and thereby increasing opportunity to get selected for a job.
